Cabbage & honey salad

Cruciferous veggies are the families of broccoli, cabbage, kale, turnips and radishes, to name a few. Upping these babies in your diet means getting the strong disease-preventing and fighting benefits they provide, and cruciferous veggies can taste great too. If you don’t agree, just try some more recipes with them. It’s all about preparing them in ways that actually work and taste delicious!

A salad like this one is super quick and easy to whip up. Just finely slice up the cabbage, make little sticks of the carrot and apple, and toss it all in a bowl with a chili-lemon-honey dressing. The result is crunchy, easy to eat, fills you up, and satisfies your body at a deep cellular level. Make extra and have it the next day as well, with lunch or dinner.

Ingredients


  • ¼ white cabbage

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 green apple

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp raw honey

  • Juice of ¼ lemon

  • Chili flakes

  • Sea salt

  • Black pepper

Preparation


  1. Using a sharp knife, finely shred the cabbage and place in a serving dish. Scrub the carrot, wash the apple, and cut both into fine julienned sticks. Add to the dish.

  2. Pour the apple cider vinegar, olive oil, honey, and lemon juice into a small glass bowl and add the chili flakes. Whisk together until thoroughly combined. Add salt and pepper to taste, before pouring the dressing over the cabbage mixture. Stir well to coat the ingredients fully.
